BWOED fosters economic preservation through self-sufficiency as we assist low income women, girls and their families.

Black Women's Resource Center....
BWOED provides services through its operation of the Black Women's Resource Center. Although the Center focuses on the special needs of African American women and girls, we help anyone who requests our services. We provide information and referral services on employment opportunities, completing complicated paperwork, assistance with a governmental agency for business. In addition, we help clients learn how to get involved in their community and find answers to their burning questions.

Mentoring Program....
BWOED's Mentoring Program educates girls on the issues confronting them including: teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and substance abuse.

Our program links middle and junior high school girls to professional women in the community who provide consistent support, career and personal guidance, and cultural and social exposure on a one-to-one basis.

In addition BWOED provides workshops that address an array of topics designed to encourage greater academic success and increased self-esteem.

Women's Health....
BWOED provides, on an ad hoc basis, group meetings focused on health issues with a concentration on breast cancer, its prevention and treatment.

Professionals in social welfare, clinical psychology, women's health, family and individual counseling, etc. are facilitators of all BWOED support groups.

BWOED by special arrangement with attorney advocates, offers free legal advice on all civil matters, e.g. wills, probate, personal injury, real estate, family law, etc.
